Trash Cleanup Project off Old Florence-Kelvin Highway
Natural Restorations teamed with Footprints Matter to Us & Arizona State Land Department to host a Trash & Broken Glass Cleanup Project on Saturday, April 30th at an illegal dumpsite off Old Florence-Kelvin Highway.
65 volunteers worked throughout the morning to restore the area & remove 25 tons of trash.
We removed a hot tub, a broken concrete retaining wall, roofing shingles, 15 tires, couches, chairs, mattresses, metal bed frames, a television, building material scraps, yard waste, broken glass, target shooting trash and more.
We would like to thank all of the organizations who helped make this cleanup a success: Arizona Trail Association, Ascender Game Carrier, Dalmolin Excavating, Footprints Matter to Us, The Home Depot, Imerys, JustServe.org, Mountain View Printing, Pinal County, Real Purity, Resolution Copper, Southwest Airlines, Social Venture Partners Arizona, & Tom Corey Images. Thank you Judd Bowers for providing cold bottled water to volunteers.
We want to thank Dalmolin Excavating & Imerys for partnering to bring a front-end loader & operator to the cleanup. This cleanup would not have been possible without their assistance due to the size of the items we removed from this site. We couldn’t ask for a better experience with both organizations and the loader operator.
We would like to thank Imerys & Tom Hawk for providing breakfast & donating a new shade canopy that we can use at future cleanups to provide shade for volunteers.
Special thanks to Sue Schaffer from Footprints Matters to Us for working with us to get the word out & pull this off in such a short amount of time.
